Document preparation

Make a document easier to find your way through.

Prepare a searchable copy of suitable scanned material, with source quality and review limits agreed first.

A picture of text is not text.

An image-only PDF displays pages but may not provide a searchable text layer. Searchable preparation adds a text layer while keeping the page image available for reference.

Readability sets the boundary.

Crooked scans, low contrast, handwriting, stamps, and damaged pages can affect recognition. We review the source and identify what can reasonably be checked.

Test the useful parts.

Agree sample phrases, page coverage, and critical fields to check. The searchable copy does not replace the visual original as the source of truth.

Quoted after review.

Volume, scan quality, languages, and verification depth affect price and schedule. Perfect OCR, certified transcription, translation, and remediation of every damaged page are not promised.

A few useful answers

Will every word be recognized?

No. We agree the review level and flag problem pages.

Is searchable PDF the same as Excel?

No. A searchable text layer helps find text; a spreadsheet extraction structures agreed fields or tables.

Do you replace the original?

The source is preserved and the prepared copy is clearly distinguished.
